Financial Planning for the Season

Our thanks to Shane Carty from Varria Personal Financial Advisers for his presentation on Budgeting to our team. We learned about the advantages of taking out Total and Permanent Disability Insurance, Death Cover and/or Income Protection through our superannuation funds and the option we have to increase our contribution and the tax benefits of doing so.

Shane outlined the estimated amount per year an individual or couple would need to live on in retirement, at both an adequate level and comfortable level and that this includes the assumptions of home ownership and no debt at this stage of life. He discussed the wisdom of paying down debt and saving during seasons where an individual may earn extra overtime or bonuses. This is especially relevant as we go into the peak season for relocations! We truly appreciate Shane’s time and for sharing this knowledge with us.
