What is the GenR8 program?
GenR8 is an award winning school to work transition program for Year 12 students wanting to enter the Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain (TL&SC) industry. The program includes –
• industry awareness and connectivity
• a nationally recognised qualification
• industry work placements
• industry employment opportunities
The program runs over the full Year 12 school year. It combines 20 weeks of structured work placements (1 day per week) in Terms 2 and 3, with a nationally recognised qualification (Certificate II in Logistics), which students undertake with a Registered Training Organisation.
The program provides opportunities for Year 12 students to identify employment options and pathways within businesses, whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification and essential employability skills.
The GenR8 program is implemented, managed and monitored by the Training Queensland programs of the department’s Metropolitan Region.
The program is fully supported by the Queensland Trucking Association (QTA), the peak industry association for the trucking industry in Queensland. Employers in this sector have identified GenR8 as the preferred recruitment model for their industry.
A number of significant Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain (TL&SC) employers across the State are engaging in GenR8 as a workforce development and planning tool to attract and retain a younger workforce, skill for the future and access job-ready candidates to all current and future job vacancies.
