Recycle, Recycle, Recycle!!!

Monday, 01 March 2021

Our planet is in the dangerous throws of climate change, largely due to human pollutants. Now more than ever, doing all we can to help clean up the planet is of vital importance. It is even more important that companies, such as ours, are responsibly and vigilantly disposing of waste. Every piece of plastic and cardboard makes a difference. Reuse, repurpose, recycle is a motto we have adopted at Taylor’s Removals. We wish to keep both our clients and the planet happy!

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), also known as Styrofoam, is a grey area recyclable in most households. Many do not know that Styrofoam is in fact a completely recyclable product. It is comprised of 98% air and 2% actual plastic, so when recycled it is repurposed into General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS) which is used to make household items such as coat hangers. The Australia Packing Convent reports that only 29% of EPS is recycled because most councils do not allow or accept Styrofoam in kerbside bin collection due to small bits breaking off and contaminating other recyclables.

However, the Greater Toowoomba Waste Management facility allows both households and businesses to dispose of their Styrofoam and ensure that it does not merely end up in landfill. Employees at Taylor’s Removals are mindful of the amount of waste they use and are diligent in ensuring they recycle all of their EPS. Small changes such as these greatly impact the waste seen in landfills and the ocean.

Our team aims to be as environmentally conscious as possible as we understand that it is our responsibility and that of our community to fight against pollution and climate change.
