Taylor’s Team pledges NOT NOW, NOT EVER!
Tuesday, 30 May 2017
At our staff BBQ for May we were honoured with a visit from Tony Rehn, Crime Prevention Officer with the Queensland. As May is Domestic Family Violence Prevention Month we asked Tony to speak to us about his experiences in the Police force responding to domestic violence incidents. Needless to say the statistics and true stories he shared were shocking and disturbing to all present.
Tony spoke to us about the local efforts to raise awareness of domestic violence and to bring people together to make the community safer through respectful relationships. These include the Toowoomba Together group, which seeks to empower and encourage the Toowoomba community to support and participate in initiatives and strategies to build a community where violence is not acceptable; as well as to encourage and enable the corporate and business community to adopt and support anti-violence practices and culture.
Tony also advised that Police from across Toowoomba have thrown their support towards the ‘Not in Our Club’ campaign, coordinated by Toowoomba Together across the month of May for Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.
The campaign involves sporting clubs and associations across Toowoomba coming together in a united way to make a stand against domestic and family violence.
The team pledged to take a stand against domestic violence and proudly pinned white ribbons on their uniforms and placed sticks on the trucks. Our sincere thanks to Tony for his work in the community and for sharing his knowledge and passion with us.
